What do you need to know before you start?
To donate eggs with us, you must be aged between 18 and 34. Does this apply to you? Great, read on!
Under current regulations, Royal Decree-Law 9/2014 of 4 July, this donation must be completely anonymous. This means that once the process is complete, you will not be able to meet or see the people who receive your eggs.
Furthermore, this is a completely voluntary act of solidarity, so you cannot receive any financial compensation. However, you will receive compensation to cover any expenses, inconvenience and effort that may have arisen from the process.
Thanks to this wonderful gesture, you will make it possible for other women to become mothers. Helping people who are struggling to conceive will be extremely rewarding for you.
Egg donation explained step by step
First visit
Medical examinations
Following this initial consultation, a series of medical tests will be carried out to assess your suitability. This is done to confirm that your eggs are suitable, but also to ensure that you are not at any risk. For ivfMadrid, your safety comes first.
This part of the process includes: genetic and blood tests, ultrasound scans and a gynaecological examination, karyotyping and a psychological assessment. All these tests will be carried out completely free of charge and will be the perfect opportunity for you to get an update on your health.
Time for stimulation
Once this stage is complete, we will move on to the stimulation phase. This involves hormone treatment designed to stimulate the natural process by which your body releases eggs. This phase lasts between 10 and 12 days and can easily be managed at home, although you are welcome to come to our clinic if you would prefer our doctors to administer the treatment.
Follicular aspiration
Once the treatment is complete, it will be time to retrieve the oocytes. To do this, simply come to our clinic where we will perform the egg retrieval procedure, which takes no longer than 20 minutes. The procedure will be carried out under sedation so that you do not feel any discomfort, and afterwards you will remain under observation for around 2 or 3 hours to ensure that everything has gone well. After that, you will be able to go home without any problems. You will then officially be an egg donor!

Frequently Asked Questions about Egg Donation
What compensation do you receive for donating eggs?
Egg donation is carried out on an altruistic basis, so no payment is made for it. However, in recognition of the effort involved, donors receive a financial allowance, the details of which we will explain to you at your first consultation.
What does it take to become a donor?
To become a donor, you must have a valid national identity card or passport and be aged between 18 and 34. You must also be taller than 1.55 metres and of normal weight, as this will determine your body mass index (BMI), which must be within the normal range for you to be eligible to donate.
Can I be a donor if I’m on the pill?
It’s fine if you’re taking the pill, but you will need to stop taking it once you start hormone stimulation treatment.
